    EMBA Campus and Class Visit: Entrepreneurship Practicum

    The objectives of this course  are to provide students with an awareness of what it takes to be a successful entrepreneur and to enhance the analytical skills needed to identify and properly evaluate a new business opportunity, as well as to teach students the skills required to prepare and present a professional business plan for an entrepreneurial venture, and to explore the creation of value through the process of starting a new business venture. The assignments are designed around investor questions/criteria and the course serves as a capstone to demonstrate all of the skills learned in your graduate program.

    Topics to be covered include: the common characteristics of successful entrepreneurs; identification of windows of opportunity; development of a viable business concept; preparation of a detailed sales forecast; development of comprehensive financial forecasts; the evolution of an entrepreneurial strategy; analysis of competition and market opportunities; creation of a marketing plan for an entrepreneurial venture; selling as a new venture; exploration of financing options for the entrepreneurial company and development of a financing plan; overview of the funding process; equity design and structure; compensation; and preparation and presentation of a professional business plan.
